Outdoor dancing is one of the summer’s highlights, and there’s no better venue to enjoy open-air beats and grooving than New York’s Water Taxi Beach. This summer, Basic NYC has been hosting a number of memorable Sunday showcases at the different Water Taxi venues, with international and local DJs alike dropping daytime sets. This Sunday, August 1st, Sleepy & Boo are shining the spotlight on New York’s local and up-and-coming DJ talent as they bring their “Sleepy & Boo + friends” party down to the Water Taxi Beach South Street Seaport for a day-to-night event. Basic NYC’s residents Sleepy & Boo will be playing a special sunset set, along with a stacked lineup of some of their favorite DJ collaborators. Underground music goes outdoors at one of New York’s most unique summertime spots.
It’s been a busy summer for Sleepy & Boo, with the duo relentlessly rocking dancefloors all over town week in and week out. Aside from a jammed schedule at the Sullivan Room, their headlining set at Cielo in July was one of their summer highlights, along with their guest sets for Dance.Here.Now and ReSolute. Warming up for DJs as diverse as James Zabiela, Steve Lawler and Lee Burridge, Sleepy & Boo showed their dexterity as DJs, featuring their typically wide range of cutting edge sound.s. Joining them on the lineup include the housey duo of Brian Anderson (its his birthday) and AB Logic. These longtime Synesthesia collaborators have earned accolades for their own productions (both release music as Hustle & Flow and the Hoodfellas respectively), and numerous Basic NYC guest spots. Billy Disciple and Deepspell are seasoned Basic NYC guests, whose last Water Taxi Beach set saw them opening for Tom Middleton in June. They’re both gearing up for the launch of their own Undulate label in the Fall. Warming up the decks for the day will be Paul Nahm, whose Sullivan Room opening sets always feature a bit of the unexpected to get the party started.
For their next Sunday party, Sleepy & Boo will be hosting the legendary Derrick Carter as they return to Water Taxi Beach Long Island City. With Derrick playing at the Sullivan Room on Saturday night, and then heading over to the beach on Sunday, that’s certainly going to be one of the summer’s house music highlights.
And it’s not just about the music at Water Taxi Beach, either. There’s award-winning burgers, a raw bar, weekly food specials, and international beers on tap for all to enjoy, making the Water Taxi Beach South St. Seaport one of the ideal places to spend a summertime Sunday.
